Problems at working place

Working with difficult interlocutors

Interpersonal communication is a very interesting field that sometimes places huge challenges and difficult taks before us.

One of them is a constructive work with a difficult interlocutors. They are very demanding, uncritical and even agressive. An extra effort is needed so that both sides can at least be partly satisfied.

How can this be achieved if you don’t have enough experience in working with such people? The universal rule that can help is ’Attack the problem not the person you are talking to.’ Constructive communication is carried out by applying the following skills:

  • Harmony between verbal and non – verbal communication
  • Focusing on a problem
  • Authoritative and not authoritarian communication
  • Active listening
  • Clear and concise message delivery
  • Selfcontrol
  • Perseverance
  • Time control
  • Empathy

Each and every one of these points contains a number of questions and answers. The purpose of working with difficult interlocutors is to recognise, overcome and avoid unproductive communication.
