How to prepare your child to become independent before starting school

At the very beginning it is neccessary for parents and grandparents to take the child to and from school not only for the child’s safety but also for the feeling of security that every child has when in the company of those closest to them.

In the first month or two it is advisable to accompany the child but also to include going to school with someone else. Naturally, it all depends on how far the school is, the ambience and the school ground, pedestrian crossings and density of traffic.

The most important thing is the personal impression of the child of how much and when they can do things themselves. Taking the child to school should be carried out in such a way so the child can remember 4-5 landmarks in order of their appearance.

The child could also make a drawing of the route to school. There are individual differences in all of this that should be respected. It is advisable for the child to learn the geography of the classroom, the school and the playground in the first term and the route to school.
