The role of a parent is the most complex role; it arouses complex feelings in both parents and children. Together with love, support, best wishes, expectations, hopes and unconditional acceptance, parenthood sometimes brings unwanted and unexpected difficulties.
Some of them are disagreements, mutual misunderstandings, conflicts, parents’ problems as their role changes while children grow up, and difficulties in getting accustomed to children’s needs.
The Counselling Centre for parents can help when a parent has problems with his or her role, when he or she feels inadequate or inefficient, or thinks everything is insolvable and he or she is in a dead-end.
Help and support for parents include:
- getting them to understand the psychological phases and processes through which children and young people pass while they grow up
- achieving a better mutual understanding among family members
- learning to overcome anger and aggression in both parents and children
- establishing and respecting psychological borders
- psychological help in cases of divorce and the difficulties it causes
- psychological help in cases of violence and harassment within a family
- advice on dealing with children’s poor performance at school.
- the Counselling Centre offers help to individuals, partners and families
The Counselling Centre organizes special courses for parents according to the various ages of their children and the problems they are experiencing.
